I was in a restaurant in North Carolina in 1979, and saw a sign on the wall that made a lasting impression on me. It read:
Who hasn't wished for a way to bring good fortune on themselves? I know I have - and here was a formula for getting lucky. I thought about it as I sat there waiting for my food, reading and re-reading that sign until it was burned into my consciousness. It made sense then, and it makes sense now.
One of the things you have to remember about working hard, though, is that doing things that are hard isn't the same as doing hard work: If something is so difficult that it doesn't seem possible to do, there's probably a better way. The best way to work hard in that sort of a situation is to stop, take a step back so you can get a better perspective on the problem, and attack it from a different direction.
Work hard - and remember to work your brain as hard as you work your muscles - and you will get lucky. It will usually take a while, but that's one form of magic you can count on!
